The three-legged stool of understanding is held up by history, languages, and mathematics. Equipped with these three you can learn anything you want to learn. But if you lack any one of them you are just another ignorant peasant with dung on your boots.
Why not join the pandas? 
Click "Groups" in the right sidebar menu (you need to be logged in first). You'll see a list of the site groups, and you should see a "join" link next to each. Note that this no longer automatically displays a badge next to your posts. 
Contact a site admin to get that fixed.
